The Liebster Award!

I was recently nominated by Hanna ( http://cybeleshineblog.wordpress.com/about-me/ ) for the Liebster Award.

I was asked to answer some questions about myself, so here goes.

1. Where is your favorite place to live?
I grew up in the small town of Ravenshoe (where my murder mystery, The Gingerbread Man, is set.) and lived there until I was in my mid 20s. After that I moved around a bit, never outside of Queensland, though, and I ended up back here very close to home. So I guess Ravenshoe is my favorite place to live. If I could choose anywhere in the world to live, however, I think I would live in Canada.

2. What is your favorite character trait?
Glibness. I love characters that are off the cuff and a little crass.

3. Do you have a talent?

Other than writing, I have a talent for people. I find it easy to relate to most anyone, and can generally help people get to root of their emotions, their relationships, and their motives. Whether they take my advice is another story.

4. What is your favorite movie of all time?
My favorite movie is a bit cliche. Titanic! There, I said it.

5. What is the most important thing to you in your life?

This one is a little hard. The most important thing in my life is probably my friendships. After spending some time living away from my family and friends I realized how integral they are to my survival, and my sanity.

6. Who is the person you look up to the most, and why?
There is not really a single person. I look up to different people for different reasons: I look up to my mother for all the valuable lessons she has taught me about life and overcoming; I look up to my step father for his knowledge and strength; I look up to my sister as a fantastic mother; I look up to my children for their innocence and wonder, and their ability to find happiness in the simplest of pleasures; I look up to successful people around me, and here on the net, for inspiration and drive to do better and be better; and lastly, but certainly not least of all, I look up to myself, because in the end all we have is ourselves.

7. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I have a few of these, but the biggest is probably when someone finishes my sentence. Argh, can't stand it!

8. Do you have a dream you’d like to share?
I have too many dreams to count. The most important would be: I want my children to follow theirs. I would hate for my children to grow up and become another cog in the societal engine of "status quo", unless that's what makes them happy. For myself, my biggest dream is to have my writing make an impact on the world, and to have one them made into a blockbuster movie. ;-)

9. What gives you the most happiness?
I would have to say I'm happiest when I'm doing something new.

10. What is your biggest accomplishment?
I don't feel very accomplished, that is why I am following my dream of being a bestselling author.

11. Why do you like to blog
My main reason for blogging is very selfish --I want to get people reading, and talking about, my work. But once I got into it a little more I found some really great people out there. So now I blog to get readers, as well as for the fun of interacting with all the amazing people out there.

I have nominated some of those amazing people for this award...

    1. Thanks, Hannah. I just noticed that I spelled your name with 1 n. My new laptop has this horrible habit of not registering a double unless it really pound the keys, so I often misspell words with doubles in them now. It's okay, I fixed it. ;-)

This is why I check, and recheck, and check again once I hit publish! =)
